Long, J. Max, age 76, January 14, 2012.
Max Long, of Rochester Hills formerly of Royal Oak, was a retired building contractor. He was born January 22, 1935 in Murray, Kentucky and graduated from Hazel Park High School, where he was recognized for his participation in school plays. He worked in sales for Park Motor Sales in Highland Park, was a Royal Oak firefighter, was owner of an aluminum siding business, and was a sales representative for Foremost Industries before establishing Long Building Co. and becoming a successful building contractor. A lifelong car lover, Max owned a number of classic automobiles and loved being behind the wheel of a car or motorhome. He looked forward to annual winter vacations in Florida. His real estate developments included condominiums Crooks Cove, Pine Cove and North Cove in Royal Oak, as well as developments in Clawson and Troy. He was a long-time member and volunteer at First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak. Beloved husband of Janet nee Snowdon of 57 years. In addition to Janet, he is survived by his mother Robbie Long, sister June Watts, daughters Lori Hopkins and Tracy Jeffrey Leestma, granddaughters Kirsten Leestma, Hanna Leestma and Delanie Hopkins. Predeceased by his father, A.C. Long. Visitation at First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak, 529 Hendrie Blvd., Saturday, January 21, at 10am with the memorial service following at 11am.
