Joanne E. Veroxie, age 77, of New Orleans, died August 4, 2012. Joanne's life was characterized by travel and adventure from the beginning. Born March 15, 1935 in Brainerd, Minnesota, her father's work for the government brought her to Royal Oak. After graduating high school, she enlisted in the Marine Corps where she was voted Miss Camp Pendleton. Following her service, she met Tim Tamm, son of Eugene and Delia Tamm, a high school football hero. They married February 7, 1959 and produced five beautiful children, as evidenced by the beautiful adults which they are today. Sadly, God took Tim November 6, 1967 at an early age leaving Joanne to raise her family with little more than a mother's love and determination to persevere against all odds. And, together, persevere, they did. A maturing family brought Joanne grandchildren and travel. A family business took her to Colorado, where she met Joe Veroxie. A second marriage to Joe on November 23, 1985 took her to Long Island and subsequently, Utah. Joe passed away on May 9, 2009. Widowed a second time, Joanne relocated to New Orleans where she enjoyed the company of her children. She is survived by her children, Timothy J. Tamm, Kenneth M. Tamm, Julie A. Tamm, Daniel P. Tamm and Jill M. Tim Yant; grandchildren, Dan Tamm, Sean Tamm, Ashley Yant and Nick Tamm; great granddaughter, Breanna Pecquet; and sister, Carol Fagan. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Veroxie and Tim Tamm; parents, Melvin and Alice Wolleat Arvik; and brothers, James Arvik and Scott "Raleigh" Arvik. The visitation will be Friday 4-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Veroxie will lie in state Saturday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak, with the Rev. Steven Wertanen officiating. The burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Memorials to the donor's choice of charity appreciated. Share your memories at www.sullivanfuneraldirectors.com.
