JoAnn Halverson, age 68, a resident of Hazel Park for the last seven years, formerly of Hancock, MI passed away April 6, 2014 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born August 1, 1945 in Hancock to the late August and Beatrice Loukiainen. Ms. Halverson worked as a waitress at Ann Sayles Restaurant in Royal Oak for more than 15 years. She currently volunteered as the leasing chair person at Hazel Park Manor. She was very excited when her sister and best friend, Dotty, decided to move to Hazel Park a year ago, so they could once again be "partners in crime". She enjoyed playing Bingo and cards, doing crafts and going to the casinos to gamble. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and her cat, Buffy. She was the loving mother of Kathy Tom McKinstry, Judi the late Rick Hill, Furnney Lisa Simpson and Pam Dave Ashburn; dear sister of Dotty Loukiainen, Robert Huttu and the late Margie Huttu; proud grandmother of Rick Hill Jr., Sammi Jo Hill, Bobbi Jo Hill, Heather Simpson, Brian Simpson and Blaze Simpson; great grandmother of Devon, Alexis, Donavon and the late Alyassa; Dominique, Angelina and Alivia; and aunt of Robin, Lindy, Kimmy, Jennifer, Genie, Mindy and Andy. The visitation will be Tuesday 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday 1-9 p.m. with the service Thursday 11 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak.
