Lind, Jean Charlotte nee Allen. Age 96. February 25, 2010.
An 18-year resident of Huntington Woods, Mrs. Lind was a retired bookkeeper who became an accomplished amateur artist in retirement, exhibiting some 40 of her canvases at a one-person show at the city's Woods Gallery in 1996. She was a fan of the Detroit Tigers well into her 90s, attending games at Comerica Park and Lakeland, FL. A highlight was getting a hug from Tiger Hall of Famer Al Kaline in Lakeland during 2007 spring training. She was the elder of twin daughters born February 20, 1914, in Detroit, to Harry L. and Jessie B. Allen, who had come from their native England to live in America and become citizens. She spent much of her early years in the then-developing town of Royal Oak, graduating from Royal Oak High School in 1933. She married Gerald C. Lind in 1937. During their 55-years of marriage they resided in Detroit, Royal Oak, Coldwater, Farmington, Boca Raton, FL, and Huntington Woods. Her husband, a GM retiree and former technical writer for Chevrolet, predeceased her in 1992. Mrs. Lind was a member of the Sons of Norway, the St. Andrew's Society of Detroit, and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by twin Jessie E. Williams; daughters Nancy Paul Stolarsky of New City, NY, and Louise Bob Giles of Huntington Woods; grandchildren Loren David Teolis of Wilton, CT, and Adam Stolarsky of New City; and great-grandchildren Benjamin and Adeline Jean Teolis and Mikayla Stolarsky.
