Jayne E. Dudley Mann of Troy, a long time resident of Royal Oak, age 87, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Beaumont Hospice, Royal Oak. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, at Crooks and Webster Road, Royal Oak. Mrs. Mann was born in Tiro, Ohio October 31, 1924. She moved to Royal Oak in 1958 with her husband, Clarence and their six children where the family became active members of First Congregational Church. She graduated from Bowling Green University in 1946 and earned her masters degree from Wayne State University in 1962. She was a substitute teacher in Royal Oak until her children finished elementary school. Subsequently, she taught Home Economics and Family Living at Kimble High School where she spearheaded a home design and building class in cooperation with SEOVEC. After retirement in 1979 she and Clarence enjoyed years of extensive travel, amassing more than 380, 000 miles with the Nomads alone. After being widowed, she returned to her passion for building and design and completed an extensive renovation of her home on Fairlawn. She had many interests and activities including Shih Tsu showing, bird watching, photography and environmentalism, as well as being a skilled seamstress. She enjoyed membership in and philanthropic support of the Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Zoo and numerous environmental organizations. She was a bright, feisty woman with many interests and great pride in her six children. She was the beloved mother of Joel S. Jane of Lansing; Paul M. Sherri of Spring Lake; Carol M. Geoffrey Seymour of Bloomfield Hills; Nancy A. Al Davis of Seattle, WA; and Mark W. of Birmingham. Dear grandmother of Joel Mann, Daniel Mann, Scott and Ben Seymour, Nerissa Davis, Ashley Mann and Hayley Hauger. Great grandmother of three. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, son David A., grandson Paul and daughter-in-law Judy. She will always be remembered with boundless love. Arrangements by Wm.
