Kairis, Janine F. nee Jankowiak Age 61. March 2, 2013.
Beloved wife of Michael. Loving mother of Shawn Mindy, Shannon Alex Mourtos and Eric. Proud grandmother of Estella. Dear daughter of Virginia the late Blaise Jankowiak and the late Phil Salvatore. Sister of Brian Elahe Salvatore and Randy Christina Salvatore. Daughter-in-law of Jaye. Aunt of Sarah, Ashley and Grant. Mrs. Kairis graduated from Rosary High School in Detroit. She earned her Bachelor's Degree at Michigan State University and her Master's in Early Childhood Education from Oakland University. She taught preschool in Berkley and elementary school at St. Dennis school. A finalist for "Teacher of the Year" in Oakland County, Mrs. Kairis retired after 28 years teaching kindergarten in the Lamphere School District. Kairis Pond at Lessenger Elementary School in Madison Heights is named in her honor. The Kairis family were forty year members at St. Dennis Catholic Church. Mrs. Kairis served on the Board of Directors at Bishop Foley High School. She was a supporter of many organizations, charities and causes, who enjoyed donating to and participating in their silent actions and events. Janine gave the gift of life as a long-time Red Cross donor. She enjoyed travelling, especially going to Gladwin, visiting with family in Washington, D.C., Louisiana, and California. Her love of her family was of utmost importance in her life. She was an avid walker and loved her pets. Visitation Tuesday 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture/memorial service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. In state Wednesday 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass 10 a.m. at the St. Dennis/St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Madison Heights. Memorials to the Solanus Casey Center are appreciated.
