James Tucker

Tucker, James D. "Jim", Age 89, passed away December 11, 2013 at Wm Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born January 27, 1924 in Highland Park, Michigan. Jim was a World War II Combat Veteran stationed mostly in Europe during the war. He was a proud lifetime member of the Birmingham Free Masons # 44 located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Jim achieved 3rd Degree status among the Masons. Jim was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol and participated in search and rescue after leaving the military. Jim enjoyed sports. He was an Avid Detroit Tiger's fan, but his love was mostly NASCAR and the Indy 500. A yearly ritual for over 30 years he would tarvel to watch the time trials for The Indianapolis 500. He also attended the race and had the opportunity to visit with Andretti and some of the other racing greats. Jim enjoyed some of Detroit's best cuisine from Lafayette Coney Island to Athens Coney Island, a weekly favorite for many years. Jim also loved his White Castle Hamburgers. Beloved husband of the late June L. Tucker and June J. Menard. Loving father of Linda Fitzpatrick and Jill Richard Smith. Proud grandfather of Shelli Tucker, Shannon Scott Netzel and Courtney Pfaff. Great grandfather of Cody and Kendralyn. Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until the time of the service 11 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks.
