James Louis Schovan, age 84, a 59-year resident of Berkley, died November 4, 2009 at his home. He was born November 25, 1924 in Royal Oak. Mr. Schovan served proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II in Patton's Ghost Troop. He was employed with Consumers Power for 38 years. He was a member of the Clawson-Troy Elks Club for 31 years and the Berkley American Legion for 28 years. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Mae Deemer Schovan; sons, Gregory Nancy Schovan of Holly and Michael Sheryl Schovan of Holly; siblings, Geraldine Richard Rotarius of Ferndale, Paul T. Lois Schovan of Traverse City, Jean Norm Loren of Grand Blanc, Lee Nancy Schovan of Remus and Diane Bill Broaddus of Sterling Heights; granddaughter, Caresse, his beloved "Cracker Jack"; and grandsons, Ian and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence T. and Teresa Schovan. The visitation will be held Thursday 5-8 p.m. and Friday 1-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. The service will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
