James E. Coffman, 86, a Royal Oak resident, died March 6, 2009 at his home. He was born January 15, 1923 in Detroit. Mr. Coffman lived in Royal Oak since 1950. He was a graduate of Walsh College, Detroit. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. He retired from the Center for Creative Studies as a business manager in 1985. Mr. Coffman was a member of the Palestine Lodge #357 F&AM, Detroit. He was treasurer for 25 years for Aries Grotto, Detroit and treasurer for many years at Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church, Royal Oak. He is survived by his wife, Florence M. Joyner Coffman; children, William April Coffman and Kathleen Susan Rea; grandchildren, Tammie Coffman, Robert Coffman, Michael Rea and Karen Rea; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Alfred Coffman; and siblings, Robert Coffman and Marion Daniel.
