James Frederick Chamberlin, age 90, of Royal Oak, died January 12, 2009 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born May 4, 1918 in Detroit. Mr. Chamberlin was a 1st Lt. in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp stationed in England as a navigator/bombardier. He worked as an architect in the Detroit area into his 80's and as a volunteer at William Beaumont Hospital for many years. He was a 55-year member at the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak and was known for his wonderful dry humor. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis M. Chamberlin, whom he married in September 1943 in Detroit; children, Jeff F. Pam Fisher Chamberlin, Jr. of Sunset Beach, NC, Bruce D. Kathy Chamberlin of Duncanville, TX, Carolle A. Chamberlin of Detroit, MI and Gary A. Chamberlin of Rockford, MI; brother, Donald Chamberlin of Dearborn, MI; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, A. Roy and Lydia Kiehler Chamberlin. Memorial visitation will be Sunday 5-8:00 pm at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. A memorial service will be Monday 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak, with the Rev. Betsy Rice officiating.
