James E. Brackett, age 66, of Ferndale, formerly of Royal Oak, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born February 19, 1942, in Detroit. Mr. Brackett owned Definitive Recordings in Ferndale. He retired from Mumford High School as a history teacher. He graduated from Albion College and then received his master's degree from Michigan State University. He was a life member and trustee of the Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Detroit. He supervised the installation of the organ at the church and was the director of the organ recital program. He is survived by his siblings, David Brackett of Bay City, Marilyn Hanford of Big Rapids and Charles Brackett of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucile Brackett. There will be a memorial visitation Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 8000 Woodward Ave., Detroit, with the Rev. Tonya Arnesen officiating. Inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Ludington. Memorials suggested to the church or the American Guild of Organists, Detroit Chapter. Arrangements by Wm.
