Mrs. Hramiec was very proud of her Italian heritage. She was born in Detroit to immigrant parents, Quirico and Valeria Ziraldo on May 10, 1927. Her parents, born in Friuli, Italy, were founding members of the Venetian Club. Mrs. Hramiec received her bachelor's degree at the University of Detroit and masters at Wayne State University. She taught in both public and parochial schools, completing her career as principal at Our Lady of LaSalette in Berkley. She married her devoted husband, Edward Joseph, in June 1950. In 1955, they moved to Royal Oak and raised their seven children. After their children were independent, the couple enjoyed traveling covering forty-nine states and southern Canada. Through the years, Mrs. Hramiec assisted in the Shrine Scout program, volunteered at Detroit Children's Hospital and Hospice of Southeastern Michigan. She also served as Eucharistic Minister, visitor of the homebound in her parish, National Shrine of the Little Flower. She will be remembered as one who loved tenderly all whose lives she touched. Mrs. Hramiec's husband, Edward, preceded her in death on December 16, 2002. Her family survivors are children: Joel, Valerie David Meyers, Dr. John, Rosanne Larry Ramey, Mary Bewley, James and Patrice Ray Gage, and 19 grandchildren. A sister, Anita Sabbadini and brother, Louis Rosemary Ziraldo also survive. Funeral visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Hramiec will lie in state Thursday 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass 10 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower, Royal Oak. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. The family requests memorials be made to Shrine Parish Building Campaign or St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
