Irene Catherine O'Malley, age 84, a resident of Royal Oak since 1960, died March 24, 2011 at Clausen Manor in Waterford. She was born July 26, 1926 in Detroit. Mrs. O'Malley was active in the Shrine Ladies Guild and a member of the League of Catholic Women. She is survived by her husband, Donald J. O'Malley; the couple married July 11, 1959 at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Detroit; daughter, Mary Cecilia Frank Vertin of Waterford; and grandchildren, Valerie Katherine Vertin and Michael Alan Vertin. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Cecil Writt and Marie T. Reisdorf. The visitation will be Sunday 2-6 p.m. with a 5 p.m. Rosary at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. O'Malley will lie in state Monday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m., with Msgr. William Easton officiating, at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak. The burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
