Beloved father of Vincent, JoAnn and Betty. Proud grandfather of Harold and Al. Great grandfather of Armani and great-great grandfather of Kennedy. Also survived by the mother of his children and friend, Josephine Atkins-Hayes. Mr. Atkins was a proud WWII U.S. Army veteran who participated in the Invasion of Normandy. He retired from the City of Highland Park after many years. Visitation Wednesday 5-7:30 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. In state Thursday 10 a.m. until the time of service 10:30 a.m. at the Word of Faith Int'l Christian Center, 20000 W 9 Mile Rd., Southfield. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit. Memorials appreciated to any veteran organization of choice.
