Hy Lee

July 5, 1927 — September 22, 2009

Funeral services for Harice Yates "Hy" Lee, 82, will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, September 28th at Worden Chapel with Pastor Bill Haley of The Country Church, Four Corners, WY officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, September 27th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Worden Chapel.
Mr. Lee died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 22nd.
He was born in Konawa, OK on July 5, 1927 the son of John Carrol and Lela Mae Stokes Lee. He was inducted into the U. S. Army in 1945 and served in Germany during World War II. Hy married Vernice R. Half Pint Griffith on April 3, 1948 in Morganfield, KY.
His life's work was in the oil fields in Illinois, Venezuela, North Sea England and the Rocky Mountain States. Hy and Half Pint moved to Gillette, WY and owned and operated a diesel shop and Bullet Oil Company, They moved and settled down in Newcastle, WY in 1975. He owned and operated HyCo Oil and Jet Drilling Co. He then owned and operated the Stardust Motel, later bought the Lamplighter Lounge and renamed it the Hy90's. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying trips to Canada and Alaska. His other interest was trips to Deadwood, SD. He enjoyed life to the fullest with friends and family. Hy worked hard and played hard.
Hy is survived by two sons, Jim Eva Lee of Newcastle, WY, J.D. Ann Lee of Alvin, TX; one brother J.M. Cleo Lee of Newcastle, WY; one sister Kay Frank Padilla of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 59 years, his parents, brother Bill Lee, and sister Dot Goss.
