Herbert Seymour

May 22, 1942 — May 30, 2014

Herbert G. Seymour, age 72, a resident of Birmingham, Michigan died unexpectedly on May 30, 2014 in Grayling, Michigan. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was a great brother, a generous and caring uncle, cousin and loyal friend. After graduating from Notre Dame in 1966, he went on to have a successful career as a corporate communications writer for several advertising agencies and as a freelance consultant. Above all else, Herb was a fisherman. He discovered fly fishing 25 years ago and was "hooked." He said that he found something on the water that he found no where else...certain beauty, sheer adventure and fellowship. He became part of the fishing community and he looked forward to each and every outing. He is survived by eight brothers and sisters: Edward Marti Seymour of Birmingham, MI; Thomas Marilyn Seymour of Rochester, MI; Susan Dan Goff of Haysville, NC; Cecilia Powell of Allegan, MI; Doug Seymour of Waterford, MI; Christopher Seymour of Traverse City, MI; Kathy Jerry Angers of Cedar, MI; and Meg Russell Pankau of West Dundee, IL. Herb kept in touch with many of his 17 nieces and nephews through his unique "HunkaUnc" e-mails. The family thanks Cis who recently held a family reunion/70th birthday party for Herb, which now holds a special significance. And, our family is forever grateful for knowing that Dan Goff was fishing with Herb at the moment of his passing. A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 4-8 pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. Memorial contributions in Herbert's memory are appreciated to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter, 21311 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, MI 48076.
