Helen Straith

Helen Hanna Straith, age 93, a resident of Royal Oak, formerly of Beverly Hills, died December 31, 2009 at her home. She was born February 21, 1916 in Detroit. Mrs. Straith retired from the Royal Oak Public Schools after 30 years of being an elementary teacher. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Birmingham and formerly of Calvary Baptist Church in Hazel Park. She is survived by her sons, Robert W. Shryl Straith and Paul F. the late Lenore Straith; grandchildren, Tracey, Lesley, Jennifer, Kent and Reid; and great grandchildren, Ethan, Tobin, Meryn and Brecken. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Edward Straith, on October 10, 2002. The visitation will be held Sunday 2-7 p.m. and service Monday 11 a.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak, with the Rev. Charles J. Whitfield officiating. The burial will take place at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
