Memorial services for Grace Cooksey, 96, will be held at 2:30 pm Friday, September 4th at Worden Chapel with Rev. Delbert Dick of Wheatland officiating. The family prefers memorial contributions to Weston County Health Services Foundation. Worden Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Cooksey died Saturday, August 29th at Weston County Health Services.
Grace was born November 21, 1912 at Jetmore, Kansas the daughter of Eugene and Bertha David Dutrow. She was raised in Nebraska where she received her education and taught school. During World War II she worked in civil service and continued working as a bookkeeper the rest of her life. On August 19, 1953 she married John Bennett Cooksey at Rock Springs, WY. In January, 1955 the family moved to Casper, Wyoming where her husband worked for the Wyoming Gas and Oil Commission. He later operated his own flight school where he taught many students to fly.
In 1975 they moved to Newcastle to the family ranch on the Cheyenne River South of Newcastle. Following the death of her husband in 1986 she continued to make her home on the ranch she loved.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Harry and Eddie and a sister Ruth. Surviving her are one son Don Cooksey of the family ranch, sister Beulah Johnson of Dodge City, KS and several grandchildren.
