Gordon C. Briggs, age 85, a resident of Royal Oak for 55 years, died January 13, 2013 in Clarkston. He was born February 15, 1927 in Dearborn to the late Willis and Blanche Briggs. Mr. Briggs was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran who served in the South Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion Post 253 in Royal Oak. He previously worked for Beaver Precision Products for 27 years and then retired from Eonic, Inc. in Detroit. He is survived by his children, Gordon Sue Briggs of Waterford, Glenn Jennifer Briggs of Farmington Hills, Gregory Theresa Briggs of Dexter, Gail Briggs of Berkley, Gary Nancy Briggs of Royal Oak and Gina Jim Seery of Clarkston; grandchildren, Amy Dave Hernandez, Gordon Clair "Jake" Amie Briggs III, Blane Briggs, Jason Briggs, Jennifer Rick Detkowski, Ryan Michelle Briggs, Adam Briggs, Chelsea Briggs, Matthew Seery, Steven Seery and David Jerri Seery; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine E. Briggs, on July 23, 1996; and siblings, Willis Briggs, Betty Hull, Joseph "Pat" Briggs and Josephine Shaw. The visitation will be Thursday 3-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mr. Briggs will lie in state Friday 10 a.m. until the time of service 11 a.m. at Prince of Glory Lutheran Church in Madison Heights.
