Funeral services for Weston County native Glenn L. Butolph, 81, will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 19th at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle. Visitation will be Friday, December 19th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church. The family would appreciate memorial contributions towards the Weston County Health Services Foundation for the remodeling or First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Butolph died Tuesday, December 16th at Weston Manor Nursing Home in Newcastle.
Glenn was born March 26, 1927 on Skull Creek near Osage, Wyoming the son of Avila and Minnie nee Rose Butolph. He attended Crook County, Wyoming schools, living with his family on many Crook County, Wyoming ranches. He worked on several ranches as a child. Glenn went to Utah and joined his brother Harold and worked in a copper mine. He also service in the U. S. Army during World War II and was discharged May 2, 1946. He then helped his father and worked at several ranches. He spent one winter working at the gold mine in Lead, South Dakota. He spent another winter cutting timber near Buckhorn, Wyoming with his brothers. On May 26, 1952 Glenn married Mildred Gibbs. The couple lived and worked on the Sedgwick ranch later moving to Deadwood, South Dakota for the winter. He built a home east of Newcastle, Wyoming and worked 21 years for Cambria Forest Products. In 1976 he was employed by Jacobs Ranch Mine where he retired after 15 years of loyal service.
Mr. Butolph loved horses and did some rodeoing. He also loved camping, hunting, trapping and fishing with his family.
Survivors include his wife Mildred of Newcastle; son Stanley Mary Ellen Butolph of Rapid City, SD; daughter Vera Mike Smith of Sundance; and two sisters, Nancy Zerbst of Newcastle and Edith Clark of Idaho. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Willis, Harold, Roy, Ray, Eldon and infant brother Lloyd and sisters Elsie, Blanche, Edna and Ethel.
