Gladys Hemler

Graveside services for Gladys J. Hemler, 79, will be held at 4:30 pm Friday, July 6th at Mt. Mariah Cemetery, Sundance, Wyoming with Rev. Bill Haley of The Country Church, Four Corners, Wyoming officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 to 6:00 pm Thursday, July 5th at Worden Chapel in Newcastle, Wyoming. The family prefers memorial contributions in lieu of flowers.
Mrs. Hemler died Sunday, July 1st at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle, Wyoming.
Born January 8, 1928 in Three Rivers, Michigan the daughter of John and Darthea A. Andresen. She was the only daughter in a family of six boys. At the age of five, she and her family moved from Michigan to a farm near Huron, SD where she was raised and received her education. In 1946 she was married to James Smith. To this union two boys and two girls were born. They lived in various places in South Dakota. After her first husband died, she entered the restaurant business owning several and working in many in South Dakota.
In 1990, she married Ellis Hemler, a retired postal worker in Newcastle, Wyoming where she resided until her death.
Gladys was a very caring person, always ready to help anyone and everyone. She loved to cook and always made so many treats for the Holidays, birthdays and for all occasions. She was proficient in sewing, arts and crafts. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by all who ever knew her, most of all but all her family and her husband. May god let her rest in peace from her tireless work and the pain she has endured here on earth.
She is survived by her husband of Newcastle; two sons, Tim Smith of Newcastle, WY and James Smith, Jr. of Williston, ND; two daughters, Barbara Waack of Sioux Falls, SD and Ann Johnson of Geddes, SD; four brothers Richard Andresen of Clear Lake, SD, Albert Andresen of Revillo, SD, Robert Andresen of Stockton, CA and Harold Andresen of Newcastle, WY. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two great?great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, first husband, and two brothers, Earl and Clarence Andresen.
