Gertrude J. Stoeser, age 80, a resident of Sterling Heights since 1968, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Wm. Beaumont Hospital, Troy, MI. She was born October 15, 1924, in Preston, Ontario, Canada. Gertrude married Raymond at St. Clements Catholic Church April 30, 1949, In Preston, Ontario, Canada. Gertrude and her husband Raymond moved to Detroit in 1953. Raymond died in 1963, willing her to raise four children. She became a bookkeeper, working for the Fraser Public Schools until she retired at the age of 63 and volunteered in the community. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Jane Jules Clos of Rochester Hills, MI; Ray Kathleen Stoeser of Tucson, Ariz; Frances David Gregory of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; and Angela Thomas Saigh of Lake Orion, MI; grandchildren: Jill, Beth, Megan, R.J., Tommy, Benjamin, Steven, Vincent, and Dominic; great grandchildren: Aiden and Madelyn; and sister, Mary Langlade of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond, son Michael , parents Thomas and Adelaide Sandwell, and siblings: Helen Zettner, James Sandwell, and Frank Sandwell. Friday, she will be in state at 12:30pm and a funeral mass at 1:30 pm at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Ontario, Canada. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Visitation at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road, Utica, Michigan will be Wednesday from 1:00pm to 9:00pm with a rosary at 7:00pm.
