Funeral services for Newcastle resident Geraldine C. "Jerry" Sims, 83, will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, January 10th at Worden Chapel with Pastor Norm Brotzman of the Assembly Of God Church, Newcastle, Wyoming officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, South Dakota under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Worden Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to either Newcastle Southern Baptist Church or Weston County Health Services.
Jerry died Saturday January 5th at Weston County Health Services following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Sims was born October 24, 1924 at Petty, Texas the daughter of Luther Elmer Call and Rubie Marie Brown Call. She graduated from high school at Clint, Texas and attended Ladies Seminary Bible Study at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. She was employed as a public school librarian and teachers aide in Springerville, Arizona and was a children's Sunday school teacher at Newcastle Southern Baptist Church. She accepted Jesus as savior and was baptized as a young adult. On July 18, 1960, she married Al Sims at Westpark Baptist Church in Pecos, Texas. The couple moved to Newcastle in 1986 where they have since made their home.
Jerry was a loving, kind, considerate, humble, helpful Christian mother and children�s bible study teacher. She was a member of Newcastle Southern Baptist Church.
Surviving is her husband Al Sims of Newcastle, son Ron Howe of Chugwater, Wyoming; three brothers, J.T. Call of Ladonia, TX, Harry Call of Mineola, TX and Orville Call of Austin, TX; one sister Mrs. Peggy Klein of Mineola, TX. Also surviving are sisters in law, Mrs. Gene Call of Ladonia, TX, Ann Zenkner of Mineola, TX, Mary Call of Ladonia TX; granddaughters Elaine White of Gilbert, AZ, Carolie Pollock of Chugwater, WY, Melanie Minnick of Casper, WT Raynee Hernandez of Chugwater, WY; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
