Geraldine was born May 7, 1934, to Gerald and Helen (Roadifer) Bock at Clay Spur, Wyoming. She passed away at Weston County Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. She was given the nickname Bubbles, because an infant she would lay in the crib and blow bubbles. She grew up at Clay Spur and attended school in Osage, Newcastle and attended one year in Upton. She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1952. Her first job was at Newcastle Drug where she met Lester Lee “Brownie” Brown. They were married on July 19, 1952, in Newcastle. She took in Ironing for several years and had a "mangle iron". She worked at several places: Jack Graham & Dave Williams Service Station, Newcastle Hospital, Farnsworth Drilling, Plains Engineering, Zerbst Oil and HyCo Oil. She also did bookkeeping from her home.
As a kid Bubbles, a couple of her bothers, and neighbor kids rode goats that would show up in the summertime. They discovered they could make the goats go faster by twisting their tails.
Bubbles loved being outside and you could find her tending her yard and flower beds. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and knitting. She crocheted Santa Claus Dolls for the older grandkids. She also crocheted new Christmas ornaments each year for all her grandchildren.
Brownie and Bubbles loved to go camping and most weekends they could be found at Cold Creek, Beaver Creek Campground, Deerfield, Hart Ranch, the Big Horns, or Angostura Lake. They traveled in their motorhome to Arizona, Colorado, Montana, and Texas, plus other places. They also took a trip down the Oregon coast. They spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona.
Survivors include her four children, Doug Brown, Linda Gates, David (Joni) Brown, all of Newcastle and Sheila McGoldrick of Wickenburg, Arizona. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Two sisters-in-law also survive her, Laura Bock, and Patricia Bock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lester (Brownie) Brown, parents Gerald and Helen Bock, sisters Anna Larson Mercer and Leta Clyde, brothers Gerhard “Jerry” Bock, Earl “Bum” Bock, Royal Bock, her twin Gerald “Deac” Bock and daughter-in-law Larita Brown.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Weston County Senior Center on July 15th at 11:00 am with memory sharing and lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Weston County Senior Center in memory of Bubbles at 627 Pine Street, Newcastle, Wyoming 82701.
