Gerald Jones

Gerald R. Jones, age 97, a Royal Oak resident for more than 70 years, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Cherrywood Nursing Home in Sterling Heights. He was born October 20, 1910 in Bay City. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Michigan State University. He was a retired teacher and coach. Mr. Jones was an avid sportsman who loved to golf, and at the age of 90 had a "hole in one". He was also a great storyteller and a member of the Elks. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jones, whom he married on August 4, 1941 in Fort Sill, OK; children, Gerrie Campbell of Royal Oak and Mary Richard Anderson of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Heather Campbell and Wendy Craig Huxta; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. and service Saturday 11:30 a.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak.
