George Rotary Jr., 81, of Venice, Florida, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, after a long battle with heart disease. George was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 28, 1930 and was the third son and third of four children of George Rotari and Bernice McElroy Rotary. George was married on February 18, 1950 to Sara ?Sally? Smith in Detroit, Michigan, and was the proud father of three daughters and one son. After a long career in engineering at General Motors, George became an entrepreneur in the automotive glass business in the Lansing, Michigan area. George was a devoted member of the Elks Club and the Charlotte County Jazz Society. George is survived by his daughter Shirley Jim Schneider of Royal Oak, Michigan, son David Laurie of St. Johns, Michigan, and daughter Laurie Steve Thelen of Troy, Michigan; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and by his beloved companion Helen Neil of Venice, Florida. He is also survived by his brother Harry and his sister Mary and a blessedly large family of nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his loving wife Sally August 9, 2003 and daughter Cathy Russell July 4, 1997. Memorial visitation will take place from 2-9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Rosary, on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Road, Royal Oak, MI 48067. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 S. Lafayette Avenue, Royal Oak, MI 48067.
