George Anthony Bonner, age 66 of Lighthouse Point, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 25, 2009 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 25, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet; son Rick; daughters, Kristen Daniel Sieloff, Joan Ted Cole and Sandra Lynn; one grandson Daniel Sieloff; and one sister, Antoinette Dennis Perry. George was a Supervisor of Technical Construction and Maintenance with thirty years of experience when he retired from the Ford Utica Trim Plant in Utica, Michigan in 1993. He loved music of all kinds, especially Motown and Golden Oldies. He had a passion for baseball and was a very active player in his high school years until a knee injury prevented him from pursuing a professional career. During the 1990's, he was a volunteer assistant baseball coach, working with Bob Gilling at Eisenhower High School in Shelby Township. He enjoyed landscaping and gardening. He was an accomplished hunter and fisherman in Michigan, Wyoming and Montana who learned the joys of taking his boat in the ocean for a whole new experience when he moved to Florida with Janet in 1999. Over the years he remained an avid Detroit Red Wings and Tigers fan. Instate Thursday, October 1, 2009 10:30am at St. Kieran Catholic Church 53600 Mound Rd. Btwn 24-25mile Shelby Township. Inurnment at a later date will held at Resurrection Cemetery.
