Gary Huber

September 28, 1941 — August 9, 2009

As a testimonial to the love that Gary E. Huber bestowed upon his family he was surrounded by his family and friends as he died on Sunday August 9, 2009. Gary Estell Huber was 67 years old. In life and in death Gary was a warrior. With a steadfast determination he lived his life. That same tenacity was evident to all those that were close to him as he lived his final days and comforted those around him.

Gary was born September 28, 1941 to Estell ?Bud? and Ina Huber. He grew up in Newcastle, Wyoming and graduated from Newcastle High School with the class of 1959. With pride and honor he served our country in the army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. While working full time to support his family, he graduated with his Bachelor?s Degree from Chadron State College in 1975 and a Master?s Degree from the University of Nebraska in 1976. After receiving his Masters Degree he returned with his family to Wyoming. Wyoming was his home and that is where he wanted to raise his family.

Gary was a wonderful father, a loving husband and a great friend. To his four children he taught the value of hard work. He encouraged and demanded from them to always choose the ?hard right? instead of the ?easy wrong?. That legacy will continue in the lives of his children and his seven grand children.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sharon Materi-Huber, the love of his life. Gary and Sharon were united in love and marriage on August 4, 2009. Gary is also survived by one daughter, Teri Pikula and her husband Fred; two sons Kevin Huber and his wife Jackie; Hayden Huber and his wife Shannon; and one step-daughter, Ashley Humphrey. Seven grandchildren will carry on the legacy of their grandpa. They want everyone to know that he was a great grandpa. They are Trianna, Cam, Lauren, Tate, Melissa, Kaleb and Kathryn. Also surviving Gary are his mother, Ina Huber; his brother Chuck Huber and his wife Sally and his sister Barbara ?Bunny? Saum and her husband Mark, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gary will be reunited in his death with his dad, Estell ?Bud? Huber, his daughter Anndee Huber and two uncles, Jack Huber and Bayard ?Junior? Huber.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 on August 13, 2009 at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be sent to Weston County Health Services Hospice, 1124 Washington Blvd., Newcastle, WY 82701 as a memorial to Gary and in recognition of their outstanding service to Gary and his family.
