Hugh Garry Thomas Fortune, age 85, formerly of Huntington Woods, died October 10, 2011 at Genesys Hospice in Goodrich. He was born December 16, 1925 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to the late Albert Edward Fortune and Mary Ellen McCann. He attended Assumption College and the University of Detroit obtaining a degree in electrical engineering. He was a longtime member of IEEE and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. In 1949, he married the love of his life, Mary Page Rittenhouse. They were married 54 years, until her death in 2004. Garry is survived by his children, Michael of Portland, OR, Thomas Lani of Temecula, CA, Kathleen Rod Wallace of Grand Blanc and Martha Bob McCauley of Custer, WA; brothers, Edward Florence of Windsor, Ontario and Murray Erica of Commerce Township; former daughter-in-law, Anita Fortune; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy; daughter, Mary Catherine; and sisters, Lois Warren and Doris McGraw. The visitation will be Thursday 4-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Garry will lie in state Friday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m., October 14th, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak. The burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
