Funeral Mass for Gerald G. ?Buz? Farnsworth, 79, will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 21st at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Phil Wagner and Deacon Ken Pitlick as celebrants. Burial will follow Mass at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle with military graveside rites by V.F.W. Post #2516 of Newcastle. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:00 pm Monday, November 20th at Corpus Christi Church. The family suggests memorial contributions to Weston County Humane Society or St. Judes Children?s? Research Hospital.
Mr. Farnsworth died Thursday, November 16th peacefully in his sleep at home.
Buz was born September 27, 1927 in Miller, SD the son of Leslie Earl and Grace Waugh
Farnsworth. He attended school at Miller, South Dakota and proudly served his country in the Merchant Marine during World War II. Buz and ?Toots? Farella were married in Newcastle December 23, 1949. During the next 56 years Buz worked in the oilfields of Wyoming and the surrounding states. He built his company, Farnsworth Drilling in Newcastle and since June, 1967, he drilled literally thousands of wells.
His early life on the farm instilled a love for ranching which he was able to pursue during his later years. His interest in the outdoors included snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. His annual elk hunts became legendary.
Buz was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and V.F. W. Post #2516 of Newcastle, WY.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Emma Lucille ?Toots? Farnsworth; four children, Michael E. Joan Farnsworth, Patricia Bruce Farnsworth Allen, Geraldine Randy Farnsworth Reynolds and Thomas E. Jamie Farnsworth. Thirteen grandchildren; Michael, Preston and Paul Farnsworth. Amy Allen Taylor. Teresa Reynolds Ashcroft, Mark, Brent, Jarom and Cory Reynolds. Anthony, Morgan, Katie and Conrad Farnsworth. Three great grandchildren; Trayton and Ashton Farnsworth and Garrett Ashcroft. He is also survived by his three sisters, Sandy Stevens, Donna Smith and Pattie Creager; and one brother Frank Farnsworth, and many nephews and nieces.
Buz was preceded in death by a brother, Les Farnsworth, Three sisters, Darlene King, Irene Lester and Mary Gulden, and one grandson William Jackson Allen.
