Fred Joseph Slomba Sr., age 80, a resident of Berkley, formerly of Royal Oak, passed away July 29, 2014 at his home. He was born March 20, 1934 in Detroit to the late Stanley and Anna Slomba. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion. He also was an avid bowler for more than 67 years. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie A. Dembowske; the couple married June 20, 1971 in Madison Heights; loving father of Fred Slomba Jr., Bill Kristen Reeves, Brenda Reeves, Laurie Ed Allman and the late Larry Reeves; and proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Chester and Edward Slomba, but leaves behind three nieces and one nephew. There will be a memorial service with military honors on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. with visitation continuing until 6 p.m. at the Berkley American Legion, 2079 12 Mile Road, Berkley. Inurnment will take place at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the wishes of the family are appreciated. Arrangements by Wm.
