Frank Ballo, age 83, a longtime resident of Warren, died April 5, 2011 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born July 26, 1927 in Detroit. Mr. Ballo was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked as an automotive designer for more than 60 years at several automotive companies, but most recently General Motors. He had several hobbies, including wood working, metal sculpture, photography and filmmaking. He is survived by his two sons, Frank Ballo and Mark Ballo; siblings, Martha Horschman, Ethel Kowalski, Peter Helen Ballo and Helen Evans Botteas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ethel Ballo; and siblings, Joseph Ballo, Esther Nielsen, Catherine Regan, John Ballo and James Ballo. There will be a memorial visitation Saturday 12 noon until the time of memorial service 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dale Hunter officiating, at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Inurnment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.
