KACZMAREK, Francis A. "Frank" Kaczmarek, age 61, a resident of Shelby Township for 15 years, died Monday February 28, 2005, at Wm. Beaumont Hospital, Troy. He was born Sept 22, 1943, in Highland Park. Mr. Kaczmarek retired July 18, 1994, as an ALS Coordinator and Captain after 25 years of employment with the Sterling Heights Fire Department. He was hired by the department on August 23, 1971 and received a citation in 1974 for demonstrating courageous behavior when he rescued two men from the bottom of a 25 foot sump. He later received a commendation letter for performing CPR on a baby who had stopped breathing. Promoted to Lieutenant in the fire department on Sept 24, 1979, he later was promoted to ALS Coordinator on August 26, 1991. Mr. Kaczmarek graduated from Detroit Aero Mechanic School in Detroit and later earned an associates degree from Macomb Community College. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War. He loved to play baseball and was a member of the Utica Shelby Baseball Association. He also was a member of Detroit Sportmen's Congress. An avid hunter, he was proud of his hunting accomplishments. He is survived by his wife, Sandra A. Kaczmarek; daughters, Kimberly James Pierce of Macomb Township, and Nicole Jackubowski; mother Anne of Shelby Township; siblings, John Linda of Oklahoma, Christine Patrick Nemes of Sterling Heights and Steve Cindy Kaczmarek of Macomb Township; and grandsons, Jimmy and Ryan. He was preceased by his father, Frank Kaczmarek, on January 10, 1993. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Bethesda Christian Church, 14000 Metro Parkway, Sterling Heights, Michigan additional visitation at church from 9:00am until service time at 10:00 am. Visitation is Thursday from 1:00pm to 9:00pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road, Utica, Michigan.
