Frances H. Clancy, age 91, a resident of Royal Oak for almost 60 years, died May 11, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Richard T. Loving mother of Michael Francisca Clancy, Frances J. Clancy, Mary Beth Clancy, Richard T. Nancy Clancy and Deirdre LeRoy Clancy-Kelley. Dear grandmother of Erin Rich Romo, Nora Alan Mullin, Sarah Clancy, Thomas A. Clancy, Patrick R. Catelyn Clancy, Brian Kelley, Erin Kelley and David Kelley. Great grandmother of Maya Romo and Charlotte Mullin. Dear sister of Marjorie O'Brien Moses, the late Mary Jane, Frank and Dennis Cronin, Ann Grinnell, Mary Therese Reynolds and James O'Brien. Frances graduated in 1943 from Beverly Hospital School of Nursing. She was a WWII Navy nurse who served at Bethesda and Chelsea Naval Hospitals and Ft. Eustis, VA. She married Richard in 1948 and her greatest joy was being a devoted wife and gentle and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. For over 60 years, Frances was a member of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a volunteer with the Mt. Carmel Hospital and Icon Dei guilds and the Christ Child Society of Detroit, as well as the Mothers' Clubs of Shrine Grade and High schools and University of Detroit High School. Visitation will be Monday, May 13, from 3-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. 4 blocks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. Frances will lie in state Tuesday, May 14, from 9:30 a.m. until the start of Mass at 10 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower, Royal Oak. Internment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Beverly, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Christ Child Society of Detroit, 15751 Joy Road, Detroit, MI 48228 are appreciated.
