Flora R. Truant, 88, of Chandler, Arizona passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Flora was born in San Martino, Italy to Amabile and Attilio Lenardon on October 8, 1924, the first girl in a family of six children. Flora came to America through Ellis Island in 1935 on the Italian Cruise Liner the Conte Grande. The Lenardon family settled in Dearborn, Michigan where Flora graduated from Fordson High School. She worked in payroll for Ford Motor Company before marrying the love of her life, Dr. Joseph Paul Truant in 1948. Flora always had a positive outlook on life and easily made friends wherever she went. She treated everyone like family and many called her Nona, not just her grandchildren. She loved to travel the world with her friends and family, with special pilgrimages to Fatima, Lourdes and Medjugorje. Flora had boundless energy and earned the nickname "the energizer bunny." She was a woman of deep faith and had a strong devotion to the Virgin Mary and St. Anthony of Padua. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Flora is preceded in death by her husband, Joe. She is survived by her loving sister, Rita; her children, Linda Charles Thompson, Allan Truant and Anita Thomas Ryan; her grandchildren, Christine John Bosler, Theresa Ryan Lindstrom, Christopher Ryan, Patti Truant, Alisa Greg Powell, Kathleen Truant, Michael Ryan, Sara Ryan, Steven Truant and Mark Ryan and her great-grandchildren, Trent Lindstrom, Eric Lindstrom and Quentin Powell. She also leaves behind her brother, Renato Lenardon. Visitation Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 9 a.m. until the time of the service 10 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Entombment will follow service on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
