Fern Alber

Fern Rita Alber, age 93, passed away January 22, 2014 in Troy. Fern was born November 27, 1920 in Quincy Illinois. Fern was affectionately known as Rita when she was younger. She is a high school graduate and also attended cosmetology school. Fern had a long career as a Sales Clerk at JL Hudson. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and playing cards. She was talented in many different card games. Fern enjoyed bowling and most of all was an avid shopper. Beloved wife of the late John J. Alber. Loving mother of Mary Kay Paul Young, Sharon Paul Fannin, and Denise Tim Green Bell. Grandmother of Stacie Keith Chene and Todd Megan Curtis. Great-grandmother of 4. Sister-In-Law of Delores Mathews. In state on Saturday at 9:00 AM until time of funeral Mass 9:30 AM at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, 41300 Romeo Plank Rd, Clinton Township, MI. Entombment in Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Novi, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to The St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
