KRAEMER, Eugene Philip, age 89 resident of Utica died April 7, 2012 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born October 7, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan to Linus and Anna Kraemer. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He received a Silver Battle Star, Bronze Battle Star, and Purple Heart Medal. He received the Purple Heart Medal after being wounded in action in France. He fought in Battles of Sicilian, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns. For over 25 years, he was proud of walking across the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day. He retired after 26 years of service at the United States Postal Office in Shelby Township. He is survived by his siblings: Therese Kraemer Hogan, Reverend Bartholomew Kraemer O.S.B., Hubert Barbara Kraemer, and Clement Doris Kraemer. He is preceded in death by his parents: Linus and Anna Kraemer, siblings: Cecilia Morang Kraemer, Reverend Paulinus Kraemer S.D.S., Vincent, Leo, Sylvester, Francis, and Anna Kraemer. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 pm-9:00 pm with a parish lead prayer service at 7:00 pm at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road 3 blocks east of VanDyke Utica. Thursday, he will lie in state at 9:30 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Road, Utica. with United States Army military honors immediately follow the mass.
