Eugene A. Bienkowski.
We lost another one of the greatest generation when Eugene passed away peacefully on March 12, 2014 at the age of 93. He lived a good, full life. He served our country in the battle of Okinawa, was a Golden Gloves heavyweight champion boxer and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He always had one of the best looking yards on the block, and rode his bike every day well into his 80's. He was loved and will be missed. He was the beloved husband of the late Jane I. Bienkowski November 7, 2009; loving father of Dennis Marlene Bienkowski, Robert Nancy Bienkowski, Mary Phillip Colletti and Lucy Robert Farina; dear brother of Leah Zapico, Victor Bienkowski and Gertrude Skladnowski; proud grandfather of Adam Sharon, Denny Christina, Katie, A.J., Alexandra and Joseph; and great grandfather of Jake Platcha and Ethan. The visitation will be Sunday 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Eugene will lie in state Monday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, with the Rev. Patrick Gonyeau officiating. The burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. Memorials to Beaumont Hospice or Veterans Foundation are appreciated. Share your memories at www.sullivanfuneraldirectors.com.
