Ethel Thomas

Ethel M. Thomas, a former resident of Hazel Park, died November 17, 2011 at Harbor Chase of Sterling Heights. She was born in Owens Cross Roads, AL to the late John and Molly Spears. Mrs. Thomas was a former manager at Hudson's. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling and teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the White Shrine and former president of the Hazel Park Jaycetts. Most of all, she loved her family. She is survived by her husband, Doug Cornett; the couple married March 6, 2001 in Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Vicky Patrick Marwick of Chesterfield; brother, William Spears of Florida; granddaughters, Lorie Ann Rader and Christina Marie Jones; great granddaughters, Arieal Lynn Rice, Aviahna Marie Rice, Natalie Elizabeth Rader and Serrina Everylie Rice; and special niece, Carol English. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Thomas. The visitation will be Sunday 1-7 p.m. and service Monday 11 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. The burial will take place at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association appreciated.
