Ethel Ellison nee Tasker, age 89, a 62-year resident of Royal Oak, died January 18, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her children. She was born May 27, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to the late John Tristan and Edith Dorothy Tasker. Mrs. Ellison was a 1939 graduate of Northern High School in Detroit. She was a volunteer at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was a member of the Wapiti-Elks BPOE #1523 and of the Altar Guild Episcopal Churches. She is survived by her children, Judith Ellison of Royal Oak, Jacqueline Ethel Les Beecher of Madison, WI, Patricia David Byrne of Crystal River, FL, Diane Bruce Habel of Houston, TX, Mayor Jim Jodie Ellison of Royal Oak and David Joan Ellison of Olympia, WA; siblings, Grace Pank of Clawson and Bob Tasker of Royal Oak; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Ellison, on January 13, 2008; the couple married August 2, 1941 at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak; brothers, Louis, Norman, John and Edward Tasker; and sister, Marjorie Buckberry. The visitation will be Friday 2-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Ellison will lie in state Saturday 9 a.m. until the time of service 10 a.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church, 16200 W. 12 Mile Road, Southfield, with the Rev. Chris Yaw officiating.
