Ethel Birchmeier

Ethel Z. Birchmeier, age 92, a resident of Royal Oak since 1946, died August 7, 2013 at the Sanctuary at the Abbey in Warren. She was born August 9, 1920 in Canonsburg, PA to the late John and Sophia Puklus. Mrs. Birchmeier's family always came first and she was a very compassionate person. She also was an avid sports fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Birchmeier, on December 15, 1973; and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Catherine Bobby Sikes of Symsonia, KY, Gerald Margo Birchmeier of Ferndale, Barbara John Green of Royal Oak and John Amy Birchmeier of Warren; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. The visitation will be Sunday 2-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Birchmeier will lie in state Monday 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak. Private burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
