Ernie Misch, Sr. age 98 years 15 days died April 17, 2008 at Belmont Nursing Home, Harper Woods, MI. He was predeceased by his wife Irene nee Patten Misch in 2001 and sister Gertrude Elban in 2002. Ernie and Irene married in Port Huron, MI on November 22, 1936 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They moved from Port Huron and resided in Royal Oak for 65 years. Ernie and Irene were members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Huron, and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Royal Oak from 1943 until 1995 and then members at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Warren, MI. ErnieÆs parentÆs families emigrated in 1881 from the area of Bytow, Prussia and the family had very close family and philosophical ties to the homeland. He was raised in the independent spirit of Prussian Germany. This very independent spirit manifested itself in him and fostered his self-reliance throughout his life. He was fiercely independent and never wavered in his belief and reliance on the Triune God, attending church weekly. He came of age in the time of the advanced technology of the radio and he used this ability and experience to earn a living during the Depression. Radio and television electronics were a constant interest and hobby for his lifetime. He was fascinated by the internet and used his email connection often to share stories with family and friends. His career from 1937 to 1975 as a machinist in the steel industry supported the air land sea World War II war effort and later the burgeoning Detroit auto industry. After retirement in 1975 he continued his interest in electronics and marveled at the advances of the transistor and the potential of solid state circuitry. As an amateur photographer, he loved to travel with his family to appreciate the natural wonders of our world. Ernie is survived by his sons Ernest R. Mil Misch, James A. Christine Misch, grandchildren Ian Cheryl Misch, Mesa, AZ, Susan Dan Lawrence, Warren, MI and Lisa Kirk Werner, Wixom, MI, six great grandchildren Roy, Dean and Aaron Lawrence, Hunter Kovack, Brandon and Hailey Werner, sisters, Eileen McKenzie and Eleanor Hall both of Port Huron, MI and many nieces, nephews and friends.
