Eleanor Rau

Rau, Eleanor Slisinger, age 88, of Royal Oak, died January 6, 2014.
Beloved wife of the late John "Leonard" for more than 60 years of marriage. Daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Slisinger. Dear sister of Anna Jack Sherwin and the late Joseph Nancy Slisinger. Also survived by loving nieces, Jackie Steven Wright, Shelley Sherwin, Suzanne Kevin Knauss, Jody Sherwin Mark Mathews; nephews, Robert Sherwin, Patrick Margaret Sherwin; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and godchildren. Eleanor was a gentle, loving person who touched the lives of many with a kind heart and wonderful wit. She was a sweet, caring soul to all who knew her. Visitation Thursday 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd., Royal Oak. In state Friday 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 50 E Annabelle, Hazel Park. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Eleanor to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit www.cskdetroit.org. The family would especially like to thank the caregivers, hospice staff and Dr. Carol Clark for their devoted and loving care over the past several years.
