Elaine Powers

Elaine Leona Powers, age 80, a resident of Berkley, died January 15, 2013 at her home. She was born December 13, 1932 in Detroit. Mrs. Powers was a parishioner at Our Lady of LaSalette for 62 years. She was a member of the Berkley China Painters Guild. She enjoyed sewing, doll making, gardening and was a wonderful babysitter. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Anthony Glaza, Joseph Vanessa Powers, DDS, Eileen Philip Clark and James Mary Lou Powers; grandchildren, Bridgetane, Dr. Frank, Stephen, Erin, Maureen, Emily, Alexander, JD, Dr. Katherine, Margaret, Philip, Vanessa, James, Jonathan, Austin and Ryan; and great grandchildren, Lucille, Melanie and Joseph. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Powers, on May 28, 2000. The visitation will be Friday 2-8:30 p.m. with a 6 p.m. scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Powers will lie in state Saturday 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 11 a.m. at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Berkley, with the Rev. James Profota officiating. The burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. Memorials to U of D High School or the LaSalette Missionaries Retirement Home are appreciated.
