Memorial services Edward Elmer "Ed" Wilson, 90, will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 21st at Worden Chapel with Rev. Norm Brotzman officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Weston County Manor in Newcastle. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle.
Mr. Wilson died Sunday, June 15th at Weston Manor in Newcastle.
Ed was born May 16, 1918 in Laurel, Nebraska the son of Nathan Edward and Lola May Hopkins Wilson. He was raised by his grandmother and left school in the tenth grade to find employment to support them.
On August 2, 1940, he married Marcella Fall in Newcastle. To this union were born four children, sons Charles, Bill and Gary, and daughter Janice.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was fond of saying he marched all the way across France. Upton his return to civilian life, Ed drove truck for Buckingham for 47 years. Following his retirement from truck driving, he continued to work for Weston County Road and Bridge for another eight years.
He belonged to the Teamsters Union for over 40 years; was a member of the American Legion, and was a lifea�"long member of the Assembly Of God Church.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed time with his family. Ed was a kind, gentle man with a delightful sense of humor. In his last few years in Weston Manor, he enjoyed charming his caregivers with a smile and a song. His wife and family were the pride and light of his life. He was a modest man, but loved bragging about the accomplishments of his family.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marcella, Newcastle; son Chuck and wife Nancy of Buffalo, WY, daughter Janice Sellers and husband Gary of Newcastle; and son Gary and wife Deb of Newcastle; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Bill Wilson.
