Edmund P. Dery, age 76, a resident of Greenbush, MI, died March 14, 2013 at Medilodge of Milford. He was born August 9, 1936 in Detroit to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Matthee Dery. Mr. Dery grew up in Royal Oak, MI. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary High School in Royal Oak and Bradley University in Peoria, IL. He was in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, 45th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. He worked for 43 years as a watchmaker and gemologist, and was employed by Dobie Jewelers, Neiman Marcus and Sydney Krandall. He retired in 2000 and divided his time between Tucson, Arizona and Michigan. He was a former board member of the Michigan Jewelers Association. He also was a member of the Royal Oak and Sterling Heights Rotaries. He was the past president and secretary of the Sterling Heights Rotary. His family was his greatest joy and remodeling projects in his spare time. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gerhold Dery; the couple married October 25, 1958 in Royal Oak; daughters, Dianna Doug Burke of Holly, MI, Julie Mark Thom of Caledonia, MI, Lynne Richard Lain of Ft. Wayne, IN and Laura Vincent Natale of Tucson, AZ; siblings, Joseph Sharon Dery of Kalamazoo, MI, William Rose Dery of Suches, GA and Donna Joseph Cayuela of Lambertville, MI; grandchildren, Jason Tiffany, Colin Kerri, Kristen, Jennifer, Michael Stephanie, David, Jonathan, Connor, Alex and Adam; and great grandchildren, Lucas and Noelle. He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Dery. The visitation will be Sunday 3-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mr. Dery will lie in state Monday 10 a.m. until the time of Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak, with the Rev. Steven Wertanen officiating.
