Douglas H. Culver, age 66, a resident of Madison Heights, died January 8, 2013. Doug worked on projects in 12 different nuclear plants, some more than once. The list includes: Ft. St. Vrain, Pilgrim, Big Rock, Palisade Main Yankee, Vermont Yankee, Point Beach, Wolf Creek, Fermi, Callaway, 3 Mile Island and Clinton. Doug's professional certifications were Level III Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Ultrasonic, Radiographic and Visual Testing. He was also one of the 1st Epri UT IGSCC certified technicians, which gave him the expertise to work at 3 Mile Island after their catastrophe. He worked on and ran projects in fossil plants, chemical plants, refineries, steel mills and more. Doug also held the positions of Radiation Safety Officer, Project Manager QA/QC Manager and Operations Manager. Beloved husband of Marty. Dear father of Mona Ross Miner and Larry Jr. Angie Schoenauer. Proud grandfather of Sarah Dively, Tim Dively, Kyle Miner, Alexys Miner, Ashley Wilt, Alesha Wilt, Kiersten Foster, Taylor Schoenauer and the late Larry Schoenauer III. Great grandfather of Mackenzie Waddell and Brock Dively. Brother of Shirley Culver, Karen Linden-Murphy and Allen Wells. The family will receive friends Friday, January 18 from 12 noon until the time of the Memorial Service at 1 pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks.
