Funeral services for Newcastle native, Douglas W. Allen, 84, will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, March 14th at Worden Chapel with Pastor Bill Haley of The Country Church at Four Corners, Wyoming officiating. Burial will follow at the Boyd Cemetery at Four Corners under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle.
Mr. Allen died Friday, March 9th at Weston Manor Nursing Home in Newcastle.
Doug was born July 18, 1922 in Newcastle the son of Clyde and Anna Ackley Allen. He attended schools in the Newcastle and Four Corners area where his parents farmed and grandparents had homesteaded. He pretty much helped out around the family farm until he entered the U.S. Army in 1944. After service his time during the war in the South Pacific, he returned to Wyoming in 1946. Doug pretty much stayed in Wyoming the rest of his life. He had a stint at driving trucks, working in the oil field, a refinery, the Homestake Mine, and the Four Corners to Newcastle School bus until his retirement. His biggest pleasures came from hunting and fishing across the state and Black Hills.
Survivors include one son Curt and his wife Kathy Allen of Newcastle; three grandsons and three great grandsons all of Newcastle
He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Anna and brothers Bob and Wayne Allen.
