Dorothy Martin

September 24, 1925 — June 17, 2013

Dorothy Mary Martin, age 87, of Berkley, died on June 17, 2013 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She is survived by her children, Loretta Martin, Norman Martin, Keith Martin, Maureen Jon Meyers and Shawn Martin. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Stephen Martin, Ryan Martin, Tara Ryan Martin-Connin and Erin Martin; and also two great-grandchildren, Collin and Kaitlyn Martin. Predeceased by her husband, Edwin L. Martin; her sons, Lawrence and Kevin Martin; grandson, Eric Lewis; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Martin. Dorothy was Chaplain of the American Women's Auxiliary, a member of the Le Chapeau 8-40 and a member of the Red Hat Society. Her employment included Chrysler Corporation, the Cheesecake Factory and Hagelstein's Bakery. She enjoyed bowling with the Shrine Women's Bowling League, casino bus trips, lunching with the swim club and was an avid participant in the Berkley and Clawson Senior Community Center activities. Dorothy's outgoing spirit will be missed by family and friends. Visitation will take place Friday, June 21, from 12-9 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Road 4 blocks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. There will be an American Legion Women's service at 6 p.m. and a scripture service at 7 p.m. on Friday. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m., in state at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church Harvard and Coolidge in Berkley. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Share your memories at www.sullivanfuneraldirectors.com.
