Dorothy A. "Dodi" Hoffmeyer, age 67, a resident of Beverly Hills for more than 40 years, died on April 23, 2012. She was born July 13, 1944 in Detroit to the late Aleksander and Helena Duda. She married Gerald Hoffmeyer on December 26, 1969 at St. Suzanne's Church in Detroit. A beloved teacher for more than 30 years, Dodi employed creativity and fun to build a love of learning in her students, including tossing Jolly Ranchers across the room as motivation. She taught geography, social studies, grammar, and religion at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs for 25 years, until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of the Accreditation Committee for the OLQM Parish School and coordinated the Geography Bee. She was also active in her parish, volunteering for the Bereavement and Christian Service Committees. She is survived by her husband, Gerald E. Hoffmeyer; daughter, Darcy Arin Franz of Alexandria, VA; and siblings, Raymond Duda and Margaret Kelly. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Robert Kelly. There will be a memorial visitation Friday 5-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of Memorial Mass 12 noon at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Beverly Hills.
